This Award was instituted by the Trust in 1992 in the fond memory of its founder President Late Shri Sat Paul Mittal. This Award is given at the national level to person(s)/institution(s) rendering selfless services to the suffering humanity. This award carries an amount of Rs. 2 lakhs along with a citation and is given on November 14 every year, the birthday of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.

The Banyan (Chennai) and Shri D.R.Mehta (Jaipur), 2007 award recipients.
The Banyan a Chennai based NGO, is a unique initiative to reach out to the door, destitute, homeless and mentally ill women. In its 14 years of operation, The Banyan rehabilitated and rescued around 1800 mentally ill women and has reunited 850 of them to their families. The organisation has also established training partnership with NGO’s like Ashadeep (Assam) and Karuna Trust (Karnataka) to replicate their model.
Shri Devinder Raj Mehta, bureaucrat and now a social worker, had a keen desire for social service, which compelled him to start Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti in 1975, whiel in service. Because of his sheer commitment and dedication, this has emerged as the world’s largest limbs and calipers fitting organisation. Every year, about 50, 000 people from India and abroad are benefited from this organisation. The organisation’s “JAIPUR FOOT” is known globally and has put India’s name. The striking feature of the organisation is that 90% of the beneficiaries of this service are below poverty line and the organisation also undertakes to rehabilitate them so that they can lead an independent life.
Scholarship distribution and Sat Paul Mittal National Award was held on 13th November 2007. The Banyan from Chennai and Shri D.R. Mehta from Jaipur were the recipients of the Sat Paul Mittal National Award 2007.

Bhatt has dedicated herself for the upliftment of the poor rural women, has formed SEWA (Self Employed Women Association), has worked on the un-organised peripheral & marginal workers in Gujarat and has formed a union of un-organised workers more specifically the women workers, led agitation's for their rights for minimum wages, has also setup a SEWA Bank for the labourers in distress, has won an award called the Lal Bahadur Shastri Award for excellence in Public Administration and Management.
