Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust was founded in the year 1983 by Late Shri Sat Paul Mittal. The Trust is engaged in providing support to under-privileged children in the area of education by awarding scholarships every year. The Trust has been actively pursuing the path shown by Shri Mittal and is involved in providing help to the weaker sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed and religion.

The Trust gives away various scholarships, awards and organizes cultural activities. The Trust has set up the ‘Sat Paul Mittal School’ – a leading educational institution in Northern India providing quality education.

  • It has a centrally air-conditioned state of the art Auditorium for the benefit of the citizens of Ludhiana where a large number of events are held during the year to promote the rich culture of India.
  • In order to inculcate self confidence in public speaking, the Trust organizes Inter-School Declamation Contest during the month of May and Inter College Debate during November every year and gives away Nehru Memorial Trophy and Nehru Running Trophy respectively.
  • Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust has instituted "Noor-e-Sahir" award in 2019 to be presented to eminent personalities in the field of arts and culture at its annual event – "Ek Shaam Sahir Ke Naam". The first award was presented to Ms. Waheeda Rehman in 2019 and to Shri Dharmendra Deol, the living legend of Bollywood in 2020.
  • Additionally, the Trust hosted musical dramas in partnership with Ibaadat Foundation – "Rooh-e-Majrooh", celebrating the life of Majrooh Sultanpuri and "Sahir, Kahan Ho Tum" celebrating the life of legendary poet Sahir Ludhianvi.
  • The Trust has been holding various activities like – "Jashn-e-Sahir" wherein eminent personalities from the world of arts and culture have been recognized, "Yuva Tarang" to nurture young talent of Punjab, “Hasya Kavi Sammelans”, Musical events etc.

Scholarships & Awards: The Trust gives away the following scholarships and awards to help the disadvantaged and deserving students for completing their education:

The Sat Paul Mittal Award for outstanding service to humanity was instituted in 1992 by Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust, Ludhiana in the fond memory of its Founder President Late Shri Sat Paul Mittal. The award was later rechristened as the Sat Paul Mittal National Award in 1998 and the Trust also instituted the Sat Paul Mittal Appreciation Award in 2012.
From 2022 onwards, these awards have been renamed as Sat Paul Mittal National Award (Platinum) and the Sat Paul Mittal National Award (Gold), respectively. These awards are presented every year to lndividual(s)/lnstitution(s) to recognize outstanding service to humanity. These awards carry a total amount of Rs.12 lakhs in cash along with citations.
